STATICE
Limonium sinuatum, syn. Statice sinuata
Also known as Sea Lavender, Statice displays multiple branches of tiny
funnel-shaped flowers. Each "winged" stem has thin, sword-like leaves
of dark green. The papery flowers of statice come in a wide array of colors,
including blue, violet, white, yellow, apdcot, salmon, pink, rose and
lavender. Statice's versatility and hardiness make it an ideal "staple"
for every floral outlet.
Available: Year-round.
Pack: Available in both full and half boxes.
Care & Handling:
- Check for botrytis in the florets. It appears as a beige-brownish
coloration. Remove any infected stems.
- Do not put statice into water as it often causes the stems to turn
black. Also, do not get flower heads wet.
- Store in covered boxes in the cooler. Stack boxes in on a pallet or
cleats in the cooler to avoid box bottom from becoming soggy.
Design Suggestions:
- Statice mixes well with most all flowers, especially poms, minis and
carnations.
- Use as a filler flower to enhance bouquets of pastel colors.
- Variety of colors makes statice suitable for both holiday and everyday
bouquets and arrangements.
- Statice is easy to dry; simply hang upside down for several days.
Dried statice retains its color and can be used to enhance potted plants
and dried arrangements.
Merchandising Tips:
- Statice is an excellent compliment to any display.
- Consider presenting rainbow bunches for consumers to dry at home.
Create a monochromatic display with other everyday product, like
1) pink carns, minis and statice, 2) yellow poms, glads and statice,
and 3) white callas, carns and statice.
