About Ashcroft B.C
Built on the back of the gold rush, The town of Ashcroft B.C. first popped up with the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway in the late 1800's. Until about 1920, Ashcroft served an important role in the gold trade due to its strategic location as a resource collection and trading point as well as a railway hub. Unfortunately, the rise of the Pacific Great Railway, which provided a more direct(and this profitable) route in the British Columbia interior caused a collapse in the economical powerhouse that was Ashcroft, leading to eventual decline of the city's popularity. Today, Ashcroft survives as a small farming community and a popular rural getaway.

Naturally due to the makeup of the town, Ashcroft is more popular for its outdoor attractions. Fishing, Golfing, Hiking, and especially Horseback riding on many of the areas popular ranches are the most common attractions. You can also get a guided walking tour of the downtown and check out the Ashcroft Museum to learn about the background of the people and general history of the area!
