Delivery Policy

Grower Direct delivers flowers worldwide, in fact, we can get flowers to virtually anywhere flowers can be delivered. That’s a big statement and we work hard to ensure we don’t let you down. However, because we cover so much ground in our flower deliveries we have had to create a few flower delivery policies to avoid potential problems and disappointing our customers. DELIVERY DAYS AND TIMES
We will do our best to accommodate all requests for flower delivery on specific days and times. However please be advised that delivery is dependent on local delivery standards over which we do not always have control. Cut-off times, early morning/ late afternoon/evening deliveries, and weekend and holiday deliveries and times vary across the country.

As a general rule of thumb, if delivery can not be completed at the time requested, it will be made as soon as possible. This will generally occur on the next delivery day available.

Special Occasion Delivery
During floral events such as Valentines, Easter, Mothers Day, Father’s Day and Christmas we are unable to guarantee any specific requests for delivery times and days. Deliveries may occur late into the evening, including Saturdays for events such as Valentine’s and Mothers Day.

With all orders placed with us for delivery for these floral events, we will do everything within our power to make the requested delivery date, however, we are subject to product and delivery availability and weather conditions in a given delivery area. If for any reason delivery can not be made as requested it will be made on the next day that delivery is available.

Specific Delivery Time Requests
On orders placed 24 hours in advance (excluding peak floral holiday periods e.g. Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.), we will be happy to honour requests for AM or PM delivery, or delivery by a specific time (e.g. Deliver by 3:00 PM) whenever possible. We can not however accept requests for a specific time (e.g. deliver at 12:30 PM). As we work with local florists to individually create and deliver each order, the time of the delivery is beyond our control, and as such can not be guaranteed.

Specific Delivery Time Requests during Floral Holidays
Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee delivery times for peak floral holiday periods such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc. Orders received with specific delivery instructions may not be delivered exactly as requested. Sorry, but we are unable to cancel and refund orders that may be delivered “late”.

Sunday and Statutory Holiday Delivery
Local floral delivery is in most cases not available on Sundays and statutory holidays. While we will try to do our best to honour requests for flower deliveries on these days where available, the reality is that such deliveries generally are simply not possible. In such cases, your order may be delivered the day before or the day after the requested date, if necessary.

DELIVERY ADDRESSES

Address Changes
Any time an order is rerouted to an address, other than the original provided, an additional delivery fee will be incurred. Examples are delivery to a home address when the original address was a business address, or delivery to a home address since the patient has been discharged from the hospital.

Incorrect Addresses
At Grower Direct we strive to get every aspect of your order correct in order to provide you with a stress-free purchasing experience. However, we can not accept responsibility for incorrect delivery addresses such as wrong street numbers or street names, or wrong cities. In cases where we are provided with a delivery address that is incorrect, we must charge an additional delivery fee for re-delivery to the correct address.

DELIVERY AREAS

Grower Direct, through its network of affiliates, is able to make delivery arrangements to deliver your floral order to literally tens of thousands of towns, cities and countries throughout the world for our standard delivery fee. There are areas, however, that require additional delivery charges. There are also areas where we can not make any delivery arrangements.

International (Outside Canada and USA)
At this time Grower Direct does not accept orders for International flower deliveries (outside of Canada and the USA) on our website. Why? Virtually every country has its own floral customs, prices, and products, and we have found that it results in far better service to our customers if we can walk them through the order process for a particular country. However Grower Direct is able to arrange for deliveries in many countries in the world through its worldwide network.

Simply Call 1-877-277-4787

and speak to one of our trained floral consultants to arrange an international flower delivery.
We request orders be placed three days in advance in order to allow for differences in time zones.

Outside of Local Destination Delivery Areas
Most of our affiliates employ local delivery services. These services determine local delivery rates. In some urban centres, and address “over the line” can require an additional delivery fee since it is considered “outside the delivery area”. Although a recipient may have a “town or city address” the actual delivery location may be “outside the delivery” area. If you select one of these areas for delivery, our customer service staff will contact you to provide information on the additional delivery charge. Depending on the situation, recipients may be able to pick up the arrangement in the town or city or we may be able to deliver it to their work address in the town or city.

Northern Canada
Grower Direct is able to make delivery arrangements to Nunavut and the North West Territories. We will provide you with the cost of air freight to the northern community before we finalize your order. Your order will be delivered to the local airport for our regular delivery fee. Please allow several days to process your order as air freight may not be shipped daily.

Rural
Delivery to rural areas, such as acreages, farm addresses, and summer cottages will almost always be outside the regular delivery limits of the closest florist. Our customer service staff will be happy to determine the closest affiliate and provide you with the delivery rate to your selected address. Please allow several days to process your order as deliveries may not occur daily. As a last resort, recipients may be asked to pick up the order at the nearest flower shop. If that is not possible we will cancel your order and refund your credit card in full.

Small Towns, Hamlets, Villages
Many small towns no longer have a local flower shop. In many cases, we are able to make delivery arrangements with the flower shop in the closest neighbouring community. Charges for these deliveries are determined on an individual basis. Our customer service staff will be happy to provide you with the delivery rate to your selected town. Please allow several days to process your order as deliveries may not occur daily. As a last resort, recipients may be asked to pick up the order at the nearest flower shop. If that is not possible we will cancel your order and refund your credit card in full.

United States
Delivery for locations in the United States follows the guidelines for delivery in Canada. Orders received before noon in the delivery time zone may be delivered the same day. Some rural addresses, RV parks and small towns may require additional delivery charges. From time to time we may be unable to deliver an order because there is no florist available in the area or the florist does not deliver to that community. As a last resort, recipients may be asked to pick up the order at the nearest flower shop. If that is not possible we will cancel your order and refund your credit card in full.

DELIVERY LOCATIONS

Airports
Requests for delivery to airport staff are dealt with on an individual basis. Delivery to, arriving or departing, passengers is not possible.

Businesses (Commercial buildings and offices, etc.)
Business deliveries generally occur between 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. local time, Monday to Friday. It is important that you identify in the special instructions field the name of the business, office number, street address, and the time the recipient will be leaving the business, in order to ensure delivery can be completed as requested. Many florists do not call before delivery which may result in the delivery occurring after the business has closed or is no longer accepting deliveries.  If the business is closed or not accepting deliveries, delivery will be attempted the next business day.

Cemeteries & Gravesites
We have received requests to deliver to a gravesite in annual memory of the death of the deceased. Some flower shops are willing to do this provided the Cemetery has staff that will take responsibility for delivery to the plot site. Details of the plot site must be included in the delivery information. These orders are dealt with on an individual basis.
We have also received requests to deliver to a cemetery for a funeral service at a specific time. Most cemeteries do not have the staff to accommodate these requests. These orders will also be dealt with on an individual basis.

Churches
Please include hours of work and location of office if requesting delivery to a staff person. When requesting delivery for a funeral, please provide a local contact as many churches have limited office hours and it can be difficult to make delivery arrangements in advance of the service time. Most funerals are arranged by a funeral home and delivery to the funeral home is preferred since viewings are usually scheduled at a funeral home.

Funeral Homes
Delivery of a sympathy arrangement to a funeral home is a high priority for all florists. Please include in the special instructions field the time of viewing or the time of the funeral service when placing your order. Since funerals generally include many large floral arrangements, we recommend that you consider the size of the arrangement you are selecting. Many arrangements are about 12” inches high and are often dwarfed by the other much taller, wider arrangements. We suggest that the family members may draw comfort from the smaller arrangements received at home, either before or after the funeral.

Homes (Residences)
Deliveries to residences generally occur between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM local time (delivery area), Monday to Saturday. Some florists will call to make delivery arrangements. Others will send the order out on delivery and the delivery driver may tag the door and/or leave the arrangement with a neighbour. Some senders have requested that arrangements be left in a sheltered location such as a porch or garage. Such delivery instructions may not be acceptable to the filling florist since the florist is financially responsible for the order if it is not received by the recipient. In order to ensure that the florist can successfully complete the delivery, please provide as much information as possible in your order.

Hospitals
Please identify if the delivery to the hospital is for the staff or a patient. Both require the full first and last name of the recipient, office or room number, department or ward. In the case of the maternity ward, the correct name of the mother is required. Many hospitals require floral orders to be left with the volunteer department for distribution. Orders delivered in the late afternoon may not be distributed until the next day. Some hospitals allow delivery directly to the nursing station, while a few allow delivery directly to the patient’s room.

Military Bases
All flower orders, for delivery to military bases, require the recipient’s name, rank, unit, telephone number, and physical address on base, including the building number.

Nursing Homes & Seniors Residences
Delivery to these facilities requires a room or unit number. Deliveries may be left with reception or the nursing staff for delivery to the recipient. Some facilities allow direct delivery to the room

Post Office Boxes
Orders can not be accepted for delivery to P.O. boxes because they are not physical delivery locations. Most locations that have post office box numbers also have street addresses. Please provide the street address for the delivery location.

Schools & Educational Institutions
Requests for delivery to elementary, junior and high schools can often be accommodated since the main office will accept deliveries for teachers and administrative staff. They may not accept delivery for students. We suggest you contact the school to make the arrangements in advance or opt to deliver your order to the student’s home address.

Deliveries to college and university campuses can be very difficult to complete. We can not accommodate requests to deliver to study halls, libraries or other public areas. Nor can we accommodate requests to meet students at specific times and locations to deliver the flowers. Please determine in advance, if there is a department office that will accept the delivery on behalf of the recipient or opt to deliver to the student’s home address.

DELIVERY CHARGES

Why do we have a Delivery Charge?
The simple answer is that we have yet to find a retail florist that is actually willing to make deliveries for free. Not that anyone can blame them, delivery costs have skyrocketed over the last decade due to increases in vehicle costs, labour, fuel, and insurance. Delivery is a hard cost that is incurred in getting your flower order where it needs to go and must be passed on to the consumer.

Some online flower retailers will (and do) offer “free flower delivery“, which typically means that the delivery cost has been built into the product price shown. Unfortunately, the reality is that the cost of delivery simply comes out of the amount collected for the flowers, resulting in fewer flowers being delivered!

Grower Direct has been selling and delivering flowers for over 2 decades and one of the keys to our success is delivering value to our customers. The full amount we charge for delivery is always transmitted directly to the filling florist along with the appropriate product value. We believe this is an honest approach to selling and delivering flowers, and we are confident that our customers feel the same.

Delivery rates are based on a per-piece rate. Deliveries, to the same address, with multiple pieces, will be assessed multiple delivery charges.

DELIVERY PRACTICES

Recipient contact and availability to accept delivery
We require a valid telephone number for the recipient as the vast majority of the retail flower shops we use to create and deliver our flowers will generally call the recipient to confirm that they will be present at the delivery location when the flowers arrive. If a telephone number is not provided and/or the flower shop is unable to contact the intended recipient the delivery will not be made until the recipient can be reached. This ensures that multiple delivery attempts are not made that may result in additional charges for the sender or damage to the flowers due to excessive time in transit. If for any reason the sender is aware prior to placing an order that the recipient can not be reached by phone this should be noted when placing the order. In this case, the sender will assume responsibility for any and all additional charges due to multiple attempts or no one available to accept delivery. Please note that we cannot issue refunds for orders that have been placed and created by the filling flower shop, but where delivery was unable to be made as recipient was unavailable.

Request to leave flowers at the door
The customer assumes all liability when requesting that we leave flowers at the door of an unoccupied or unattended home or business. We cannot be held responsible for missing or faulty products due to this special request as it is not something that we recommend under any circumstances.

Message and signature to appear on gift card

There may be times when you chose not to complete the gift card message or add your name to a gift card when placing your order.  Should an order be processed for delivery without either piece of information, our policy is to provide your name to the recipient if the recipient requests. We do this in accordance with Canada’s Criminal Code Section 264 regarding criminal harassment.  Should you choose to cancel your order before it is processed, we will refund your order in full.

Cancellations and Refunds

To provide you with the best possible service, you can cancel your order if it has not yet been created by our florist, sent out on delivery, or is already delivered. If we can cancel the order we will provide a full refund.

We are unable to cancel or change orders already created by the filling florist, en route to the location or already delivered. Refunds will not be issued in these situations.

Please contact us within 7 days of delivery if you have questions or concerns regarding your delivered order. You may be asked to have the arrangement returned to the florist or to provide a photo of the delivered arrangement. We can NOT consider questions or concerns about flowers that have been transported to a secondary location after delivery. Questions or concerns sent to us after 7 days may be addressed at our discretion.
