How To Order Flowers - FAQ's
Although we strive to make the order process as easy as possible you may find that you have some questions. Below we have listed a number of the most frequently asked.
How is my flower order actually filled and delivered?
The best way possible! By one of our trusted local FTD florists in the actual delivery area. Once you have placed your order with Grower Direct we transmit it to one of our own Grower Direct stores or an FTD partner florist in the delivery area that we have a strong working partnership with. This way your order is filled by a qualified florist we trust using the freshest flowers available. We will NEVER ship your flowers in a cardboard box across the country by a national courier as some of our competitors do!
Will my floral order always be delivered the same day I place it?
If you request same day delivery on your order we will do our very best to provide just that. However, as we are dealing with multiple time zones and delivery methods the general "rule of thumb" is
Can I place an order anonymously?
No, the fact is that we are obliged to to give out the senders name if it is requested by the recipient. This is a common practice in the flower industry. The bottom line is that we advise against sending anonymous gifts, as receiving them can often lead to some distress in the recipient. In most cases a recipient will almost always prefer to know the sender when they actually receive the flowers
How long can my card message be?
A typical florist gift card supplied with a flower order is approximately the size of a standard business card. For that reason we do ask that you limit the size of your message accordingly otherwise some of it may be left off or it may be difficult for the recipient to read.
If you wish to send a larger message we recommend the purchase of a "Full Size" gift card which may be added to any of our products at a slight additional charge.
Will the recipient be notified of the delivery prior to actually receiving the flowers?
Yes, most retail flower shops will generally take the time to call the recipient to confirm that they will be present at the delivery location when the flowers arrive. Typically if the flower shop is unable to contact the intended recipient the delivery will not be made until the recipient can be reached. This ensures that multiple delivery attempts are not made resulting in additional charges for the sender. If for any the sender is aware prior to placing order that the recipient can not be reached by phone this should be noted when placing the order.
Why does Grower Direct charge a Delivery Charge on each piece?
The simple answer is that we have yet to find retail florist that is
willing to make deliveries for free.
Not that anyone can blame them, delivery costs have sky rocketed over
the last decade due to increases in vehicle costs, labour, fuel, and
insurance. Delivery is a hard cost that is incurred in getting your
flower order where it needs to go and must be passed onto the
consumer.
Some on-line flower retailers will (and do) offer "free flower
delivery",
this
typically means that the delivery cost has been built into the product
price shown. Unfortunately the reality is that the cost of delivery
simply comes
out of the the amount collected for the flowers, resulting in less
flowers being delivered!
Grower Direct has been selling and delivering flowers for over 2
decades and one of the keys to our success is delivering value to our
customers. When you order an item priced on our web site for $40.00
plus an $11.95 delivery charge, we ensure that the full amounts are transmitted to the FTD florist who is creating and delivering the order. Doing
so means that the recipient receives the full value of flowers that you
intended.
The full amount we charge for delivery is always transmitted directly to
the filling FTD florist along with the product value. We believe this is an honest
approach to selling and delivering flowers, and we are confident that our customers fell the same.
Why does Grower Direct charge a "Service Fee" on each order?
In simple terms the service fee is just that, a fee for service. Unlike most retail sectors where the retailer "marks up" the product prior to selling it to the consumer, we don`t. What you pay (product and delivery) is what we transmit to our FTD florist filling the order. This ensures that you always get the full value of flowers you paid for. The Service Fee is what we charge to provide the services and guarantee's that we do to our customers. In a large part it`s how we make our living.
Yes, there are on-line flower retailers that advertise "No Service Fee's" unfortunately in the vast majority of these cases the service fee's are generally built in to and deducted from the price you pay prior to the order being transmitted to the fulfilling florist. This results in the recipient of your gift receiving less flowers than you paid for and intended to send.
We strongly believe that our way of doing business is the correct and more honest approach, and we are confident that our customers feel that way too.
