Cool Places to See Flowers: Edmonton's Muttart Conservatory
Believe or not, flowers and plants do bloom all year round in Edmonton, in the coldest and snowiest of days! And they be found inside the botanical gardens of the Muttart Conservatory! Located in the river valley, the glass pyramids of the Muttart Conservatory have become an iconic symbol of Edmonton. The Mutart Conservatory consists of 4 pyramids, 3 of them featuring a different climate region: Tropical, Temperate and Arid, and one seasonal pyramid that changes 5-7 times a year. Currently, the Feature pyramid has a beautiful display of vibrant daffodils to celebrate spring.
Visitors can expect to see an large diversity of different exotic plants and flowers from all over the world. And the best part is, the Muttart is open all year round! It is a wonderful escape for both tourists and residents to explore the fascinating world of plant life. One of their newest and most popular additions to the Muttart is the rare Corpse Flower.
For plant enthusiasts, there are guided tours every weekend. Alternatively, you can also take part in self-guided tours. As well, the Muttart Conservatory also has an outdoor gazebo, gift shop and a cafe. Located in a picturesque part of the city, it's no surprise the conservatory is a popular location for weddings and other events.
The Muttart Conservatory was officially opened in 1976.
