Steampunk Flowers: A Hot New Trend for 2013

 

Steampunk flowers are the hottest new trend in the floral industry for 2013. Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that takes place in the 19th century Victorian era and often features steam-powered machines. In recent years, the genre has been an inspiration in art, fashion and culture. Essentially, Steampunk is the art of combining old-fashioned elements and futuristic elements to create something aesthetically pleasing and visually interesting. 

 

To create Steampunk inspired flower arrangements, start with using classic flowers that were used in the Victorian era like roses and baby's breath. Adding elements like lace, leather, metal gears, brass watches, old typewriters and vintage buttons will add contrasting texture and interest to the floral arrangement. Steampunk are is about contrasting hard and soft elements.
